BIOGRAPHY | "Industrial, Techno, Electronica, Classic Poetry and ancient Theatre"
"WE ARE EUROPEANS. WE DON'T NEED TO BE GOOD. WE ARE DEVILS SINCE MILLIONS OF GENERATIONS” – Steve J. Drakos and Alex Drakos have given new life to energies taken from the thousands-years-old abyss of their Western roots projecting them towards the future, with hammering rhythms to be evoked through the clubs' amplifiers, in your cars' and homes' stereos and in your own individual wars through the high pleasure of electric damnation. DerDRAKOS is first of all a clan united by blood, an iron axis between father and son of Greek/Italian heritage and electronic musicians. This league is the result of an experiment that is alien to any rule: born on the very core of top European fetish pornography movie sets (see their websites www.stevedrakos.com, http://stevedrakos.blogspot.com, www.myspace.com/drakosphotos), forged on 90's martial techno sounds, developed through original influences from cult cinema and ancient theatre, taken to unexpected levels with lyrics inspired by Europe's secret fury and sealed in a circle of industrial atmospheres.
DerDRAKOS are spiritic matter: “experiment our own natural powers just like discovering electricity, radioactivity, hypnosis and more: this way we'll have even bigger surprises on how much we can get from life and death. It's the basic instinct of our sounds and lyrics, a form of powerful art built on five main points: the composition of electronic music as a consequence of images in our minds, the creation of poetry for the vocal parts with the firm refusal to use rhymes in the lyrics, the Dionysian theatrical dimension, the respect for our own bloodline, the visual arts. The greatest achievement in this life is having the power to create works from your own mind and unleash them into the universe. We see music as a living force, we treat primordial materials that lie under the skin and it's a constant battle for sound and voice creation, just like in the editing of a movie” (Steve is a professional photographer, movie editor, writer and Alex is a cameraman in tv and cinema and a soundtrack composer).
To the Greek word 'Drakos' meaning dragon or snake, the German article 'der' was added forming the name DerDRAKOS which boasts a variety of prestigious collaborations coming together for the project such as director Susi Medusa which marked with fire various tracks of DerDRAKOS' latest album "BLOOD TO BLOOD - millions of generations" (2008) with her voice and also created the graphic work (Medvsa Graphic Arts, Image Cult service), Rome's Quadraro Basement crew took care of the mixing and the final mastering, the management Alkemist Fanatix Europe takes care of promotion, distribution and booking.

Drakos e Alex Drakos hanno dato nuova vita ad energie prese dall’abisso delle loro millenarie radici occidentali, proiettandole verso il futuro su ritmi martellanti da evocare attraverso gli impianti dei clubs, negli stereo delle auto e delle case e nelle proprie guerre individuali tramite l’alto piacere della dannazione elettrica. DerDRAKOS sono prima di tutto un clan unito dal sangue, un asse d’acciao tra padre e figlio di discendenza greca e italiana e musicisti elettronici. Questa lega è il risultato di un esperimento alieno ad ogni norma: nato sui movie sets della pornografia feticista di lusso europea (vedi i loro websites www.stevedrakos.com, http://stevedrakos.blogspot.com, www.myspace.com/drakosphotos), sorto su suoni techno marziali anni ‘90, sviluppato attraverso influenze originali dal cinema di culto e dal teatro antico, portato a livelli inaspettati con testi ispirati dal furore segreto dell’Europa e siglato in un cerchio di atmosfere industriali.
DerDRAKOS sono materia spiritica: “sperimentare i nostri poteri naturali proprio come si è scoperta l’elettricità, la radioattività, l’ipnosi e altro: in questo modo avremo sorprese anche maggiori su quello che possiamo ottenere dalla vita e dalla morte. E’ l’istinto di base dei nostri suoni e delle nostre liriche, una forma di arte potente costruita su cinque punti principali: la composizione di musica elettronica come conseguenza di immagini nella nostra mente, la creazione di poesia per le parti vocali con il fermo rifiuto di usare rime, la dimensione teatrale dionisiaca, il rispetto per la nostra linea di sangue, le arti visive. Alla parola greca 'Drakos', che significa drago o serpente, è stato aggiunto l’articolo germanico 'der' nel nome DerDRAKOS che vanta collaboratori di pregio come la regista Susi Medusa, la quale ha marchiato a fuoco con la sua voce diversi brani del loro ultimo album "BLOOD TO BLOOD - millions of generations" (2008) oltre ad averne ideato e realizzato la grafica (Medvsa Graphic Arts, Image Cult service), la crew del Quadraro basement di Roma che ha curato il missaggio ed il master finale, il management Alkemist Fanatix Europe che ne segue la promozione, distribuzione e booking.
